Typical pregnancy symptoms include:
Positive HCG blood and urine test
Positive transvaginal and/or transabdominal ultrasound
Nausea with or without vomiting
Backache
Increased urination
Food Aversion or cravings in the first trimester and later on in the pregnancy
Extreme tiredness and fatigue in the first trimester that may return to normal in the second trimester.
Fetal movement
Metallic taste in mouth, dry mouth, and bad breath
Body shape: changes around the abdomen. Stomach becomes harder and presents a ''pregnancy'' shape.
Weight loss in the first trimester due to food aversions.
Loss of menstrual cycle
Cryptic pregnancies can show all or none of these symptoms. I include positive HCG results in the list of what a cryptic pregnancy can possibly show because of the next type of cryptic pregnancy. It is the type of cryptic pregnancy that goes unnoticed until the woman is in labor. It is the most widely known cryptic pregnancy because of the show “I didn’t know I was pregnant”, even though it is the most uncommon cryptic pregnancy. This happens in about 1 out of every 2500 pregnancies…a quick trip to the ER for severe stomach cramps that result in a surprise baby. When that happens, there is usually no need to test for HCG levels. Therefore, my research as to what those HCG levels are (whether detectable or not) is inconclusive.

Cryptic pregnancy symptoms include:

Negative blood and urine HCG tests
All or none of the normal pregnancy symptoms
Pregnancy symptoms may come and go
At times the woman may not “feel” pregnant especially around the time of her menstrual bleeding.
Continued menstrual cycles
Vaginal cramping similar to labor pains on and off
Negative ultrasounds in some cases especially with a retroverted uterus
Fetal movement (Often times diminished)
Slow growth in the size of the belly(some women experience none)
Abdomen may also take on a "B" shape if the fetus lays along the back instead and pushes the organs forward. Often seen with a retroverted uterus
Protracted gestation time due to slower fetal growth and “stall” in fetal growth
Prodromal labor
